Information represented by digital objects is threatened by compromises in integrity, authenticity and confidentiality, or even complete loss of availability and usability. Archival or long-term storage poses special challenges in terms of physical aging of data storage media, separation of information from its original media and rapid changes in the technical infrastructure required for interpretation of the digital objects.
Swiss Data Safe AG's Managed Archive Service takes account of these very requirements and offers a service via clearly defined interfaces. On the basis of the OAIS reference model (ISO ISO/DIS 14721), data for the archiving process is documented, imported and managed (Ingest Process, Archival Storage, Data Management, Access, Administration & Preservation).
